Mountain Info

First Season: 1964-65: Mt. Jefferson likely opened in early 1965 with at least a rope tow. A 2,000 foot T-Bar was installed either for the 1964-65 or 1965-66 season.

Originally called Mt. Jefferson Ski & Recreation Association, skiing at Mt. Jefferson’s is thought to date back to May of 1964, when Mt. Jefferson Ski & Recreation Association was registered as a Maine corporation. Historical evidence shows six local couples contributed $5,000 each toward creating the ski area.

Following the 1977-78 season Byron and Susan Delano became the new owners and renamed the company Mt. Jefferson Ski Area, LLC.

Early in 2016, the Delano family sold the ski area to the Zimmermans, who are incorporating a snow tubing area in place of the bunny hill, have redeveloped the website and brand, and are looking at additional expansions such as summer events for the coming years.
